Print reduction at Univ

Paper CollageCollectively as a College we continue to look at ways of reducing our printing and paper requirements. This ranges from revisiting the needs for the number of printers and photocopiers (the pandemic clearly demonstrated that we could print and copy less when that option was largely unavailable to us) to reducing the print runs of College magazines.

Since 2013 we have reduced the print run of The Record by 83%, making it available now in hardcopy only to those who specifically request it. Similarly, The Martlet is now published just once a year instead of twice and that print run has been reduced by an additional 13%.

Both magazines – along with – are printed on paper that has been harvested in a socially and environmentally responsible manner and is FSC® certified. Our magazines are now shipped wrapped in BIOPLAST 300, a plasticizer-free, material that contains natural potato starch and is suitable for both domestic and industrial composting.

College magazines are all available in digital-only format can be explored on our .

In 2021 we also moved to a digital-only version of the booklet supplied to our new students and enjoyed our first paper-free event thanks to the digital visitors guide that could be downloaded via QR code on arrival.

From 2019, the college stopped producing hard copies of the prospectus and in 2022 we will continue to explore ways of further improving sustainability at Univ through the reduction of our reliance on paper products and printing.
