Regulatory Challenges

Regulatory ChallengesMiles Kellerman (2017, DPhil International Relations), holder of an Oxford-Radcliffe Scholarship, has recently co-authored a chapter in The Oxford Handbook of Institutions of International Economic Governance and Market Regulation (Oxford University Press).

Miles鈥 chapter, co-authored with Professor Walter Mattli (St. John鈥檚 College), examines how advances in algorithmic trading have impacted the structure of equities and foreign exchange markets. The chapter proposes that technological shocks prompt two stages of market structural change: disintermediation followed by re-intermediation. It then documents this cycle and discusses the regulatory challenges posed by each stage.

Miles Kellerman is in his final year of his DPhil, titled, 鈥淭he International Political Economy of Market Surveillance.鈥澛燞e has recently had his first journal article published in聽The Review of International Organizations.

The chapter can be read on the Oxford University Press website. You can follow Miles’ work on Twitter, .
