Town and Gown Update
With 36 runners already signed up for Team Univ to tackle the Town and Gown 10k, which takes place Sunday 13 May, it鈥檚 not too late to sign up and get training.
We鈥檙e looking for team members from across the extended Univ community 鈥 students, academics, staff, alumni, friends and family 鈥 to lace up and get running, ready for this scenic (and very flat) 10k race. There will be post-race refreshments provided in College for all those who run with the team and College will also generously be providing Team Univ running shirts for those who enter as part of the team. If that鈥檚 not enough you鈥檒l also get an official finisher鈥檚 t-shirt, a medal and goody bag.
There鈥檚 still plenty of time to train.
For beginners Coach magazine website has an excellent training plan to follow 鈥 see:
Of course there is also plenty of information, tips and motivation to be found on the Town and Gown website itself 鈥 see:
If anyone has any further questions about training or running please feel free to contact Univ鈥檚 Digital Communications Manager, Justin Bowyer, he鈥檚 an experienced ultra-runner and London Marathon Pacer and happy to answer any queries. E: Justin.Bowyer@univ.ox.ac.uk
To join Team Univ, you will first need to register for the race at selecting the box marked 鈥渏oin a team鈥 and then selecting 鈥182t福利鈥 from the 鈥淔ind your team鈥 drop-down menu. Once you have registered for the event, please let us know by completing this which enable us to keep track of who is running with us and also keep you in touch with plans for the day.
Sign up by Monday 9 April to guarantee a Team Univ T-shirt. After this date you are still most welcome to register with the team, but we may not be able to guarantee a team T-shirt.
Team Univ will be fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy UK; please share the following link with any friends or family who may wish to support us in this:
Participants are welcome to fundraise individually should they prefer. We will be posting regular updates on Team Univ and the Town and Gown on both and using #GoTeamUniv
