Polly Jones on Radio 3
Dr Polly Jones, Schrecker-Barbour Tutorial Fellow in Slavonic & East European Studies, was one of the speakers on BBC Radio 3’s “Free Thinking” programme last night, discussing Russian and Soviet “soft power”.
The programme, Russian Culture Inwards and Outwards investigated the role of culture within historic Soviet expansionism and current Russian geopolitics. Presenter Anne McElvoy spoke to , who is the author of , alongside Charles Clover, author of Black Wind, White Snow: The Rise of Russia’s New Nationalism, Clem Cecil, in-coming Director of Pushkin House, Mark Nash, curator of Red Africa and Ian Christie, co-curator of Unexpected Eisenstein, two new exhibitions in London.
